Fashion #1 was a collaboration with model Nina Barbie, Okinawa model and dancer.  The photograph was taken for a local dance club special guest flier.  The photograph was shot with a Nikon D610, FX, and a Nikon 28-300mm, f3.5-5.6 lens.  Post editing was done using Adobe CC Lightroom and Photoshop.  Standard beauty touchup was done to smooth the models skin and highlight the beautiful features of Nina Barbie.  The image was shot using a three light setup to give that club like look with soft shadows, dark background, and to enhance the curves of the models body.  This is one image in a series of 10 images.

"Curves and Lines" was a photograph that was show with Okinawa based Model and Personality Brylee Williamson.  Brylee is well a well known and published model highly sought out for her intriguing personality, fiery red hair and the cute freckles that line her face.  The image was shot as part of a collaboration with Brylee to capture the subtle curves of the model using a 2 lighting setup.  The lighting consisted of two rear 42" strip boxes that just kissed the side of her body with a soft light and smooth shadows.  The photograph was shot with a Nikon D610 and a Nikon 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 lens.  Post processing was done with Adobe CC Lightroom and Photoshop with a standard beauty retouching and Black and White color correction.

"Deep in Contemplation" is a collaboration piece with model and actress Samantha Armistead located in Okinawa Japan.  This piece was shot along with Samantha to test out new lighting for beauty and fashion work.  The photograph was shot using a Nikon D610 FX, and a Nikon 28-300mm, f3.5-5.6 lens.  Post process was done using a combination of Adobe CC Lightroom and Photoshop and the Portrait Professional plugin.  As with most of my images, skin retouching and color corrections were done with the model in mind.  The pose shows Samantha's edgy personality while capturing her beautiful appeal.  The image was one in a series of images captured throughout the shoot, but this was my personal favorite.

"Diamonds are a girls best friend" is a photo of Brazilian model and dancer Renata with Stephanie Black, Black Angels.  Renata is a dance from Main Land Japan providing dancing entertainment alongside many Japanese DJ greats.  This photo was taken as part of a Collaboration with Renata for use in various fliers and advertisements of local nightclub establishments.  The photograph was shot with a Nikon D610 and a Nikon 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 lens.  Post processing was done with Adobe CC Lightroom and Photoshop with a standard beauty retouching.  As with many of my fashion shoots this was another lighting test using a standard beauty light setup.  A Beauty dish provided key lights, while strip boxes provided hair lights and background separation.

"Troy University Graduation" demonstrates one of many different services that I can provide.  Troy University's yearly commencement ceremony sends new graduate and undergraduate students out in the real world as Bachelors and Masters in their respective degree fields.  I have been providing class graduation photos for the past 2 years for the University.  This photograph demonstrates the skill and careful editing to capture that memory that the student can take with them into the future.  The photos are taken with a Nikon D810, FX and printed on high quality archival print paper and sold through various package options.  Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom are used for color correction and minor blemish removals prior to being sent of to a print lab for printing.

"A day at the beach" is one of the many services I provide here at Steven Hendricks Photography.  This particular photo session was taken at the beach of Okinawa, Japan for a couple who's husband would be leaving the island the next day leaving his wife and child behind for the next year due to military commitments.  These photo sessions are taken at beaches and parks and captures life style portraitures.  They are designed to show the love and emotion of family without the uncomfortable and often unpleasant studio environment.  Portrait sessions all come with basic color correction and blemish removal during post processing and can be sold either through print, or high resolution image downloads.

"Look mom, I'm one" is an example of milestone portraits.   There are many milestones a child goes through their lives, like a 1st birthday, 1st boyfriend or girlfriend, 1st prom, Kindergarten completion, or a dance or music recital.  We at Steven Hendricks Photography can capture those moments and memories so they are never forgotten.  The image here was of a photo session of a 1st Birthday.  She was a pleasant to work with and quite the little show off.  This is one of about 40 images capturing everything from showing off the "I'm a big girl" look, to mommy and daddy moments, and finishing off with the a messy cake smash!  All photo are captured with a high resolution Nikon D810 FX camera and photos are processed through Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.

"Technology Geeks" is a photo shot of my son, Takumi Hendricks to be used as a profile picture for his youtube channel.  My son loves everything technology and is a huge geek/nerd at heart.  The photograph captures Takumi in his native state, on his phone, watching youtube, wearing his favorite geek shirts.  The picture was taken in my home studio using a Nikon D610, and home studio lighting.  Two strip boxes set slightly in the rear and each side of my son casts a soft shadows and a glow that raps around his face and skin.  Using dodging and burning techniques in Adobe Photoshop I'm able to accent those highlights creating a very dramatic image fit my sons YouTube page and theme.

"Best friends are forever friends" was shot as part of a farewell and final goodbye to our closest family friends.  This photo demonstrates how powerful a story a portrait can tell when you capture the true feeling behind a scene.  Although the scene was set in the home studio, this portrait gives a prime example that sometimes the most powerful images are not those that are posed, or preplanned, but often those that happen naturally over the course of a night.  Life style portraits such as this on capture that beautifully.   Using Adobe CC Photoshop and Lightroom, I was able to add post processing effects and filters that complete the story and add a sense of love, and true feeling through colors and vignetting that pulls you in.

"The Pink Tree" was one of the last images in the Kayo Beach series of images.  I had already packed up to go home after a 12 hour long night on the beach when I looked over my shoulder and saw the pink light of the morning sun showing through the silhouetted single pine tree on the Kayo Beach Coral Rock top.  Landscape photography isn't always about the bigger image and often the picture within a picture is the forgotten gem.  Thanks to Adobe CC Photoshops abilities to do selective color corrections and replacements I was able to pull the pinks out creating an even more vivid scene then mother nature had already provided.

"Zen is Bliss" is a carefully crafted image of beautiful Kayo Beach located in Northern Okinawa Coastal region.  The image captures the zen like nature of the stacked rocks, mooring ropes, and driftwood on a pebbly beach foreshadowing a rock outcrop just of the waters edge.  Using Adobe CC Lightroom and Adobe CC Photoshop, the colors, textures, and tones were accented giving a a crisp, tack start foreground and soft peaceful background.  Kayo beach is on of the most picturesque backgrounds to shoot in Okinawa and this became one in a series of images showing my love for Landscape photography.  The photo was shot with a Nikon D810 FX and a Nikon 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 Lens.

"The northern star lights the way" is a stunning and dreamy image taken at the wee hours of the morning just as the suns morning light starting to break the horizon providing an eery glow in the background.  Kayo beach, located in Northern Okinawa provides so many opportunities to capture beautiful images in which each is unique in it's own right.  The northern star was shining bright and I envisioned the light being much like the guiding light of a flashlight.  This brought this idea into motion.  Using a cooler white balance in Adobe CC Lightroom, I was able to bring out the shadows in this image and add the hazy blue and dreamy appearance of this photograph.  I took two photos in which the light rock surfaces were masked in using the second photo.

"BTS milky way" was made from 3 images by Starry Landscape Stacker 1.4.0., Adobe CC Lightroom and Adobe CC Photoshop.  Long exposures can often be noisy especially when using the high ISO's required to capture the night sky in all it's beauty.  Through careful photo manipulation within Starry landscape Stacker, noise is easily eliminated using multiple images stacked and mathematical algorithms to delete and replace the noisy pixels within the image.  The photo was taken as a BTS for a 7 hour time-lapse that followed the milky way across the southernly sky into its resting place behind the towering rock at Kayo Beach.  This was shot using my Nikon D810 allowing for a wide dynamic range of colors and tones.

"The Monkey in the man" is a fine art image capturing a powerful story of man and ape.  The image often conceived from double exposures of fun camera apps was actually produced as a single image of a chimpanzee at the local Okinawa City zoo looking out through its glass enclosure of the spectators looking back in.  The image was possible by capturing the reflection in the glass between man and ape giving interesting image of human and our ancestors all in one powerful image.  Lightroom was used to pull out the clarity  within the reflection and pulling the colors from the glass.  The sad look of the chimpanzee looking out of the glass while the people on the outside glance back in with interested eyes.

"Spirals of red" is a photograph showing the process of long exposure and light painting.  This image was published in the August 2016 issue of Shutter Magazine.  The image came about as a project demonstrating that by leaving the shutter open on my Nikon D610 camera for an extended period of time, light could be painted into the image.  The light was formed using a red penlight hanging from a string and spun like a pendulum directly over the camera lens on the floor.  Shortly after taking this image, It was published in the "inspiring artist" section of shutter magazine.  Adobe and Lightroom were used to bring out the colors and remove excess light from the scene.

"Columns lead the way" is an artistic look of architectural photography.  Deep Chocolate browns pulled into the shadows give an old time Sepia feeling to the image.  By making use of Adobe Lightrooms' split toning, various shades of brown were introduced into the shadows and highlights to give an old antique feel.  Adobe's Photoshop High Dynamic Range (HDR) capabilities allowed for stacking of three bracketed photo for a fully dynamo range of tones.  By making good use of composition and leading lines, the users eyes are drawn through the image.  The use of negative space also helps pull the viewer into the subject of the photograph. The photo was shot using a Nikon D610 and a 28-300mm Nikon Lens.

"Those who protect us" is artistic look of a mural painted on the side of a building in the American Village are of Okinawa, Japan.  The painted mural of a antique fire station was begging to be photographed and is had won multiple awards and Photography Competitions.  The picture was a three shot bracketed image to make sure to capture all the tonal changes in the bricks, and structures that surrounded the mural.  Using Adobe CC Lightroom and Photoshop, The images were layered and blended to complete the image and then converted and processed in black and white.  The image won Peoples Choice award in the 2016 CRU photography competition.

"Half assed yet never forgets" is an abstract image of the rear end of an elephant in the Okinawa City Zoo.  The image is living proof that sometimes a half assed photo is exactly what the doctor ordered.  The image, full of texture and tone draws you in and keeps you interested.  Once the image was pulled into Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, it was obvious that a black and white image of a great elephant was exactly what was needed to make the image work.  The photo was sharp and crisp showing all the detail in the elephants skin.  The tail sits nicely using the rules of third leaving a good level of negative space throughout the image.

"A Christmas manger" was a product test shoot of a Christmas ornament I had sitting around the house.  The colors with the Christmas lights in the rear allowed for the use of Bokeh to fill the background with globes of light and color.  The photo was shot with a Nikon D610 FX using a wide aperture and shallow depth of field which is what creates the Bokeh effect with the Christmas lights in the rear.  Lightroom was used to adjust the colors and pull more saturation out of the colors and Photoshop was used to stack 6 images in order to make sure the image was sharp from front to back.  Using the Medium stacking mode photoshop allows to use the sharpest part of each image to produce the final image.

"Through the path" is a still life of a rustic bike and cart laying in an old path / road in a small village in Okinawa, Japan.  The path had nice leading lines with a good combination of contrast and tone lending well to be processed as a black and white.  Using a narrow aperture I was able to get a good depth of field in the image for a front to back focal sharpness.  Using Adobe CC Lightroom I used black and white filters and color sliders to bring in more rich blacks and whites to increase the contrast in the image.  There is good negative space along the path which leads your eyes and pulls you through the photography.

"Wheels of plenty" was shot under contract with FlashStock Stock agency.  The theme of the shoot was "Wheel of change" with images the signified change from old to new.  The old wagon wheels were part of a bench at a park called Bios on the Hill in Okinawa Japan.  The image was shot with my trusty Nikon D610 and processed in Adobe CC Lightroom and Photoshop.  The image would used in various advertisement adds by the company that contracted FlashStock.   Processing of the image required slight tweaks of clarity and a lowering of saturation because it was shot on a bright sunny day.

"Shishi standing guard" was shot as part of my final Photography project with the UMUC Basics of Photography course ARTT 152.  The image is one in a series of 10 images that was submitted as part of the final project.  The photo was shot with my Nikon D810 with a 50mm f1.4 lens.  The glancing view of the shishi dog looks into the negative space of the image.  Although the image was shot in color, after loading into Adobe CC Lightroom, and playing around with sliders, I realized the image would look amazing in black and white.  The contrast and tone makes for a very dramatic image.  I look forward to the final critique of this image from the instructor.

"Kayo beach time-lapse" is my most recent video of the milky way.  The video with preparation, photographing and final editing took over 12 hours of time to put together.  The main time-lapse was photographed over 7 hours, 420 photos, individually edited in Adobe CC Lightroom and finally outputted to a video using a combination of LTRlightroom plugin and Adobe After effects.  The milky way made it's 7 hour journey raising out of the ocean and traveling across the skies landing between the Kayo beach coral formation and the beach.  Making use of Syrp mini genie axis control, and a 15 degree per hour movement, I was able to accurately track the milky way across the sky.

"Maeda flats Time Lapse" was my very first time-lapse ever shot using motion control x and y axis Syrp Mini Genie motion controllers.  The time lapse was 3.5 hours long and consisted of almost 600 images.  The clouds moving across the sky added a cooly dynamic that adds drama and excitement to the photo.  Through the use of Adobe CC Lightroom, Photoshop, After Effects and LRTimelapse plugin, the images were individually edited, processed and outputted to a final time-lapse video.  I used my Nikon D610 FX camera to shoot the images over the 3.5 hours with a 15 degree pan to follow the stars and the keep the motion along the horizon and coral formations.

"Miyagi Island TimeLapse" was shot on the beautiful island of Miyagi, off the coast of Okinawa, Japan.  The setup, photography, and post processing took almost 8 hours.  The video was shot over a 5 hour period of time with a 15 degree per hour motion tracking to keep the milky way centered throughout the video.  A family camping and playing with fireworks can be seen towards the end of the video.  The video was made of almost 420 images, that were individual altered, color corrected, and placed together in a 4k video using Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, After Effects and the LRTimelapse plugin for smooth transitions during the changing light conditions do to the campers on the beach.
